How to Apply Print Transfers

Prepare the Design and Print
To begin, create or select a design that fits the size of your tumbler. Once your design is ready, use a printer equipped with transfer toner to print it onto transfer paper. Be sure to mirror the design before printing so it appears correctly when applied. After printing, carefully trim the transfer paper to match the area of the tumbler where you want the design to appear, making sure it fits snugly and evenly.

Position the Transfer Paper on the Tumbler
Thoroughly clean the surface of the tumbler to remove any dust, oil, or residue that could interfere with the transfer. Once clean, wrap the printed transfer paper around the tumbler and align it with your desired placement. Secure the transfer paper tightly using heat-resistant tape, ensuring there are no bubbles or wrinkles that could affect the final result.

Heat Press the Tumbler
Preheat your tumbler heat press or convection oven to the recommended temperature, typically between 350°F to 400°F (177°C to 204°C). Place the tumbler into the press with the secured transfer paper in place. Apply firm, even pressure and heat the tumbler for approximately 180 to 210 seconds, adjusting time and temperature as needed based on your specific equipment and transfer paper.

Cool and Remove the Transfer Paper
Once the heating cycle is complete, carefully remove the tumbler from the press using heat-resistant gloves. Allow the tumbler to cool for several minutes before gently peeling away the transfer paper. The design should now be permanently transferred onto the tumbler, leaving a clean and professional finish.

A Quick Guide to Sublimating Tumblers

Prepare the Design
Design your artwork using any preferred design software and print it using a sublimation printer on sublimation paper. Be sure the design is mirrored before printing to ensure correct orientation on the tumbler.

Align the Design
Trim the printed sublimation paper to fit the tumbler, and wrap it tightly around the tumbler with the design facing inward toward the surface. Use heat-resistant tape to secure the paper in place to avoid any shifting during pressing.

Heat Press Setup
Preheat your tumbler press or convection oven to a temperature between 375°F and 400°F. Set the time for 180–240 seconds and apply medium to firm pressure depending on the material and size of your tumbler.

Press and Peel While Hot
Place the tumbler into the press and apply heat and pressure for the recommended time. Once the cycle is complete, carefully remove the tumbler using heat-resistant gloves. Immediately and carefully peel off the transfer paper while the tumbler is still hot to ensure a clean release. Use caution, as the tumbler will be extremely hot. Allow it to cool completely before handling or packaging.
